Scoring Reference
How the Scale Was Set
Section titled “How the Scale Was Set”- Characteristic data was pulled from every casino app we track.
- Outliers were removed.
- The mean of each characteristic was found.
- Scores were distributed evenly along the range of results.
Features
Section titled “Features”Features are permanent or recurring releases tied to the meta experience, with no time limit on availability. They supplement core gameplay.
The Scorecard uses total available features and new feature release rate. More available features, with a steady stream of new ones, makes an app more attractive to new players and gives engaged players more to do.
Features are classified into families by their primary mechanic, and many could fit several. A variety of mechanics keeps the experience varied. See Releases Taxonomy.
Events
Section titled “Events”Events run for a limited time and vary in complexity and length. They can be one-offs or recur at expected intervals.
The Scorecard uses the release rate of new events, the percentage of days with an active event, which captures re-releases and reskins, and the average number of events active on a given day. Simultaneous events can work together to vary core gameplay.
Events are classified by primary mechanic in the same way as features, and mechanic variety is scored for the same reason.
Content
Section titled “Content”Content is everything integral to the core loop, the items released continually such as heroes, slot machines, levels, or vehicles. It is scored on release rate and total available.
